Summer is a great time of year!  From parties to picnics, activities increase.   While it is great to see more residents outside, with increased outdoor activity and good weather comes increased theft.  Several things can be done to minimize damages and keep belongings and loved ones safe.

Always remember to lock all car (vehicle) windows and doors.  Remove and secure any objects that can be seen from outside the car.  Never leave valuables of any type of vehicle, especially wallets, cell phones, money and laptops.

Always remember to keep garage doors closed and locked.  Do not leave bikes, skateboards, and other nice items outside unattended.  If bikes are outside, be sure to use a bike lock.

Also remember to keep all home doors and windows locked.  If keeping an emergency key outside, be clever and do not hide the key in obvious locations such as under door mats.

No matter what the occasion or time of day, pay close attention to your surroundings and report anything suspicious to the local authorities.
