Park Rennovations Continue
Over the last several years the Board of Trustees have focused on bringing the Millikin Road and Shafer's Run Parks up to date. This has included resurfacing both tennis courts, sealing the walking path and basketball courts, and cleaning out the frisbee golf course.
Last year the Board unanimously approved the complete overhaul and re-dedication of Holly's Dog Park. A contractor has been hired to mitigate the watershed that affects the beautiful area. In addition, the Board approved new playground equipment for Shafer's Run which will be fully installed by the end of June 2019. Phase II of the playground renovation has begun and involves the addition of a 2-5 year old play equipment area.
Several items being reviewed for viability at both parks include a splash pad, new signage, and an additional walking path. Ideas shared by residents have included tether ball, pickle ball, sand volleyball, soccer fields, and adult fitness equipment.
A Parks Committee was formed several years ago and consists of one Trustee and volunteer residents. This committee provides oversight and gives the Board recommendations. They will be meeting soon to move forward on additional playground and parks recommendations.
