7th Annual Fairfield Township CommunityFest

The 7^th Annual Fairfield Township CommunityFest is held on Memorial Day weekend on the lawn at First Church of God across from Kohl's. CommunityFest is the primary fundraising event provided by the Fairfield Township Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni (CPAA) in support of the local police department.

This annual event includes carnival rides from Triple Treats, family games, food booths and raffle prizes. Some of the donated raffle prizes available are; grill, restaurant gift cards, Great American Farms meat package, 3 month YMCA membership, artwork, 4 Reds field box tickets, Longerberger pottery/picnic basket, skateboard board top, oil changes, 2 rounds of golf @ Walden Ponds golf course, 4 Creation Museum Tickets and Dick’s Sporting Goods Gift Cards. Proceeds from the raffle help supplement police resources.

On Sunday there will be live music provided by First Church of God.

Volunteers sought for Clean Up Day

Fairfield Township’s Fifth Annual Clean Up Day is being organized for late April or early May. Organizations are already being sought to help with clean-up tasks all over the Township at times from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to set-up for lunch that will be served to volunteers. Organizations, families and individuals are encouraged to participate by calling Robert McIntyre at 785-2266 or emailing rmcintyre@fairfieldtwp.org.

Volunteers signed up by the third week in March will be given a T-shirt. Volunteers are required to sign waiver forms to participate.

SR 4 Bypass superstreet intersections soon to be operational

Traffic switch to be implemented Friday, Aug. 19

Butler County (Friday, Aug. 12, 2011) – As work nears completion on the construction of the first Superstreet corridor in Ohio, motorists are advised that maintenance of traffic operations for the State Route 4 Bypass and its intersections at Symmes, Tylersville and Hamilton-Mason roads will be switched into phase 3, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19.

School District Reduces, Realigns Administrative Positions

With the closing of the Fairfield Kindergarten Center, the school district is reducing the number of administrators by two positions. Additionally, a number of administrators will be moved to new positions for the 2011-12 school year.

School Board to Consider November Levy

The Fairfield School District treasurer has recommended to the school board that the district place an operating levy on the November ballot. Treasurer Nancy Lane presented a five-year forecast of revenues and expenses to the school board at its work session on Thursday, May 5. It showed the district would have less than $75,000 left at the end of the 2011-12 school year. That’s less than one day’s operating expenses in the 10,000-student district.
