Fairfield Township Fire Hydrant Flushing begins April 15, 2008

Fairfield Township, Ohio

Monday, April 14, 2008

The Fairfield Township Fire Department has announced that the annual Hydrant Flushing Program will begin Tuesday, April 15, 2008 and will run approximately five (5) weeks, concluding Friday, May 23, 2008. Hydrant flushing is conducted throughout the Fairfield Township.

Fairfield Township residents may notice discoloration or cloudiness in their water for a short time following hydrant flushing in their neighborhood. If you experience a discoloration of water, turn on your plumbing fixtures until the water runs clear. It is best to run an outdoor fixture or a cold-water tap in a bathtub first until the water runs clear and then run water from other fixtures. Residents should refrain from doing laundry while flushing is being conducted in their area.

The Fire Department realizes that hydrant flushing may cause some inconvenience, however, the flushing program is necessary to maintain a good water supply for both firefighting and domestic consumption. The community’s cooperation with the annual Fire Hydrant Flushing Program is appreciated.
