Citizen Police Academy
The Fairfield Township Police Department's Citizen Police Academy is a ten week program designed to provide a working knowledge and background of the Fairfield
Township Police Department. The program explains the different aspects of police work using classroom discussions and hands-on demonstrations. The instruction is
comprehensive and provides an overview of the talents, skills, diversity, and quality of your police department.

The Citizen's Police Academy is designed to:
1- Develop a harmonious working relationship between members of the community and law enforcement.
2 - Maintain mutually supportive communication.
3 - Provide an opportunity for citizens to learn more about their local law enforcement.
4 - Gain a more thorough understanding of the inner workings of the Fairfield Township Police Department.
5 - Share information and ideas about the police profession.
6 - Provide improved community/police relationships, enhanced cooperation, and reduced stereotyping.

Topics and activities attendees participate in include:
1- Patrol operations (including riding along with an Officer)
2 - Criminal Investigation/Evidence Collection
3 - Judicial Systems
4 - Forensic Hypnosis
5 - Domestic Violence
6 - Crash Investigation/Traffic Enforcement
7 - D.A.R.E./C.O.P.S.
8 - Police Aviation
9 - K-9 Demonstration
10 - Driving & F.A.T.S. Simulators
11 - Use of Force/Firearms Demonstration

Citizen Police Academy Registration
Our instructors are chosen for their knowledge and experience in their particular areas of work.
The Academy is not intended to train citizens to take any type of police action or to prepare individuals for a career in law enforcement.

Requirements for attending a Citizen Police Academy include the following:
You must live or work within Fairfield Township.
You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must not have prior felony convictions or outstanding warrants.
You must submit to a background check.

There are two Citizen Police Academies held each year, one in the spring and one in the fall.
Classes are from 6:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. for ten weeks at the Fairfield Township Police Department,
6485 Vonnie Vale Court.

Everyone who attends the Citizen Police Academy returns to our community as better informed citizens capable of using their newly acquired information to help improve the conditions and quality of life in Fairfield Township.
